European Commission published the proposal: Regulation on the establishment of European Business Wallets

19 november 2025

Big news for European digital business! Today, the European Commission published its proposal: “Regulation on the establishment of European Business Wallets.”

European Business Wallets will be accessible to businesses of all sizes, the initiative will simplify economic activities in the Single Market and strengthen the competitiveness of European enterprises.

WE BUILD is working closely with the European Commission to help turn this regulation and its intent into success.

Under the Digital Europe Programme, the WE BUILD consortium - bringing together 180+ public authorities and private companies across 26 countries - is already exploring high‑impact business and supply chain use cases, including:

• Due Diligence / KYC: Support financial institutions and obliged entities via a Business Wallet to verify customer identity before granting access to services.

• Company Law Directive – Branch Creation: Enable businesses to register a branch abroad using a Business Wallet.

• Company Representation & Signing on behalf of a company: Digitally empower natural persons to act/sign on behalf of companies for tax compliance, cross‑border transactions, invoicing, and more.
